TEHRAN -- Swiss Ambassador Livia Leu Agosti visited “A Manifestation of World Contemporary Art” on Thursday and asked the museum to loan a painting for an exhibit in Zurich.
The Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art (TMCA) is currently showcasing about 150 paintings and other artwork by world-renowned artists in the exhibition “A Manifestation of World Contemporary Art”.Agosti and Swiss Embassy official Olivier Fink held talks with TMCA curator Mahmud Shaluii and expressed her pleasure over having found an opportunity to visit the exhibit.
The Swiss ambassador to Tehran said she was pleased to see such great international paintings, including a work by Swiss artist Alberto Giacometti (1901–1966), on display.
“Iran enjoys great treasures and the Tehran Museum possesses its own special treasure chest housing works by world renowned artists. We hope we can establish a good cultural relationship between Iran and Switzerland,” she said.
She asked for one of the paintings (the artwork was not mentioned in the news but it probably refers to the one by Giacometti) to be put on show in a museum in Zurich.
Shaluii said that he would pursue the request and would announce the result soon.
The exhibit will run until August 25. Thirty three items in the exhibit are being shown for the first time.
